How It Ends is a 2011 student short film directed by Santi Vidal and starring Liad Mizrachi . Described as an apocalyptic psychological thriller, its plot revolves around what seems to be post-apocalypse. Daniel (Mizrachi ) is the last of humankind left on Earth and wanders around a suburban city seeking for answers to what has happened. As the he progresses, he slowly discovers what has happened to the world he once lived in and how his past is significant. Dreams, hallucinations, and distorted memories, in the end, are key in this surreal universe.

Production[]
How It Ends began production in September 2010. Andy Vidal came up with the idea of a post-apocalyptic film where nobody is found. The title of the film was inspired by the song "How it ends" by DeVotchka. A teaser of the film was released on September 26, 2010. The teaser featured numerous subliminal messages and was regarded as controversial. It depicted a teenager (Mizrachi) walking through an empty school. Overall, the teaser had good reception which left many people on Facebook and Youtube eager to watch the film. Actual filming of the film began in November 2010. Screenplay writers, Alex Puertas Jr. and Santi Vidal , struggled to stick to one story and ended up changing the plot multiple times, even after production had begun. The final screenplay was composed in December 2010. In November, a second trailer was released. This trailer revealed more information as well as more subliminal messages. The trailer featured songs from the 127 Hours soundtrack. In December 2010, Daniel Davis and Madison Wald were casted as the two other supporting actors. Filming is expected to be continued in January and February. The final release date for the movie is TBA.
